Want to own clothes worn by Kym Ng and Adrian Pang? Go to the Gone Shopping Charity Auction on eBay. 100% of the profits go to The Substation, a charity organisation for the arts.

Currently on auction are wardrobes worn by Kym Ng, Aaron Kao, Selena Tan and Cheryl Miles. There are about 18-20 items/wardrobe in total, and 5 to 6 will be released each week for bidding. (I think Aaron's sword will be one of them...)

There is also a Charity Film Premiere of Gone Shopping on 24th July, GV Vivo City, 7PM. Tickets are at $50, available on gatecrash. You can meet the cast and crew there. Proceeds are for The Substation's Moving Images film programme.

gone shopping event/contest at marina square

There is also going to be a Gone Shopping mall event held at Marina Square Atrium on 30th June & 1st July, 3pm and 5pm. The director, Wee Li Lin, will be there to talk about the movie, and there's going to be a contest giving away great prizes from Gain City! The breakdancers from the movie will also be there to perform. Watch out for it!

gone shopping press conference

Gone Shopping just had its Press Conference on 28th June, 4pm, at Marina Square Atrium. The main cast, Kym Ng, Aaron Kao, Sonya Nair, Adrian Pang, Chen Shu Chen, Magdelene Tan etc, director Wee Li Lin and producer Fuzzy Z. Abideen of Kismet Films were there. Representatives from Golden Village (Kenneth Tan), Singapore Tourism Board, eBay and The Substation were also present.

gone shopping synopsis

"Walking through the heart of Singapore is like walking through a series of large shopping centres" - UK Sociologist Mike Featherstone in his book "Lifestyles and Consumer Culture"

Gone Shopping is a satirical drama that sheds new light and purpose on one of Singapore’s oldest cultures – the art of shopping. Centred around three leading characters who seek to satisfy the emptiness of their souls, Gone Shopping will take audiences on a journey of love, loss and liberation in the heart of Singapore’s shopping centres, a place where their dreams can be bought and broken.

Leading the repertoire is Clara, played by Kym Ng (MediaCorp artiste), a tragically romantic 40 year old ‘tai tai’ (wealthy lady of leisure) who goes shopping in search of affection. Next is Aaron, an angst ridden 23 year old ‘Gen-Y’ boy who hangs out at shopping centres in pursuit of his manhood. And finally, there is Renu, a feisty 8 year old girl who ventures through a 24-hour shopping centre in hopes of gaining independence.

The stories unfold over three days and this motley crew will lead audiences through a journey of love, loss and liberation in the heart of Singapore, where they find that their dreams can be bought and broken. In the midst of it all, they will also cross paths with other ‘creatures’ of the shopping centres, each with their own strange retail tales.
